How does Orkut get its funding and how it functions ?

How does Orkut get it's funding ,since It does not do any sort of advertisments ,unlike google itself then how it manages it's finacial status?


and any idea what all it take to make a software like Orkut?


I mean server,ppl for maintanance et al?

Well it looks like being a part of Google -- so it does not need to make money -- however they may be making money is several ways:


1) There may be advertising on the site, or


2) they may just investigate and data-mine the relations you have (if your friend are into pop-music then you may also be into pop-music etc.) and then be able to provide more pop-music target advertising when you go into other sites that have google adds.





It is possibly a parts of Googles evil plans to take over everything related to the Internet, and is likely to be trying to push out http://www.LinkedIn.com which is the "original" big site for connected people networks.
